ACCIONA and Mind The Bridge launch a report on the state of the Spanish scaleups ecosystem.
The report “Tech Scaleup Spain” contains valuable information about the development of the economy, Spanish scaleups, and the local tech ecosystem in the two major Spanish innovation hubs: Madrid and Barcelona.
This report shows how the Spanish innovation ecosystem has experienced a 4–fold jump in terms of startup funding in 2022 and the emergence of Valencia as one of the main cities in Europe, which means a turning point and maturity for the country.
Barcelona is the fifth highest ranked city in the European tech cities index, above Amsterdam, Munich, Milan, and all the Nordic capitals (except Stockholm). Barcelona has held the advantage for nearly a decade, both in terms of new startups as well as capital invested per year, but Madrid has achieved more investment than Barcelona for the first time in its history.
Telmo Pérez Luaces, Director of Innovation of ACCIONA’s Infrastructure area, noted that ACCIONA is proud to have sponsored Mind The Bridge’s report since 2018, and how it is contributing to the vibrant Spanish ecosystem through its corporate entrepreneurship strategy, among other things. ACCIONA also congratulates Mind The Bridge on its new branch in Spain, from which they will help corporations and startups to work together.
